Memories Like Yesterday
Remember our first date, how afraid you were
Seeing me for the first time
Something between us clicked instantly
You could see the sparks fly
The first time you held my hand, gosh
It felt like I was dreaming
Then you hugged me, which is when I knew
When I started believing
That it was real, that it could last
But sadly soon enough
It would become our past
When one became two, you and I
We shared some laughs, shared some smiles
Felt too good to be true
Having someone to call mine
Things seemed to be working out
Now all I can say
This is all a memory, memory
Like it was yesterday
As our bond grew stronger and we got closer
We became more attached
Our first kiss had me mesmerized
Felt so high I could have collapsed
This continued throughout the summer
Not just dating but best friends too
It was special, what we had
I thought I knew
That it was real, that it could last
But sadly soon enough
It would become our past
When one became two, you and I
We shared some laughs, shared some smiles
Felt too good to be true
Having someone to call mine
Things seemed to be working out
Now all I can say
This is all a memory, memory
Like it was yesterday
Suddenly it came crashing down
I cried for hours, praying it wasn't true
That you didn't feel the same as before
You wanted an end to me and you
You said you'd give me your heart
And you'll always be my friend
Then that was it, we were through
It was the end
When it was all said and done, you and I
Were finished with each other, no more
Nothing in this world
Compares to what we had before
Even though it didn't work out
I'm happy to say
I'll always cherish the memories, memories
Like they were yesterday
