Smoldering
Listen
Young and unbitten
Kind and patient spirit
Undefined and unwritten
The future, He doesn’t fear it
Confident but stubborn
He longs for the pain I’ll give him
The chances have become slim
Of me letting him go or letting him in
The light of alert continues to dim
I don’t want to fall, but I can’t see where I’m walking
Don’t know if we’re just talking
Or if we’re forming something else
I might be afraid after all
Not of him, quiet dark and tall
But of me under his affect
Fixed me when I felt wrecked
But please give me a chance to choose
You’d understand if you walked a mile in my shoes
That it’s hard to give away, good or bad
Something that I never thought I had.
