I believe that no matter who you are we all leave footprints on this Earth

On the corner of our city’s streets
In the heart where we used to meet
The road says “Love” and the other says “Hate”
I read the signs but it was too late

The wishing well rose from the ground
Bringing wishers and hopers from all around
They tossed their coins and made a wish
I did too but I never got that kiss

The magic of the well ran dry
Nothing could revive it, not even the tears I cry
The magic turned to dust and blew away
My wish was stuck in the well now turned to clay

You left me on the street we called despair
Oh, you left me in the bitter air
You left me when the rain poured down
The well never saw you come back around

If wishing wells all run out
What happens to the magic and the rising doubt?
I tossed my coin and I dreamt inside
But wishing doesn’t erase the lies

The city moves around the well
Its magic dried before I fell
I’d like to say I wished again
But a wishing well’s never been my friend

I LOVED. LOVED. LOVED THIS. It's beautiful and speaks the truth. I hate wishing and it never coming true and that's always what happens to me.
