Converse Shoes
I see you standing the moonlight,
Never looked more beautiful than tonight,
But this is all so strange.
Why did you have to change?
Your actions seem so weird, you see.
The reasons are unclear to me.
But what I wonder most about you
Is what ever happened to the converse shoes?
Who are you, and what have you done
With the girl that I thought I knew?
You’re battin’ your eyes
And hiding behind
A makeup mask
Watching the questions you ask
Tryin’ to make me believe that you’re someone new,
But baby I can see right through you.
Should I play along in your fantasy land
Kissing your lips and holding your hand?
No, I’d never be caught
Pretending to be something I’m not.
Forget what the movies tell you to do,
And let who you are shine right through.
When you wear that mask, look what you lose.
It takes more to fill those converse shoes.
Who are you, and what have you done
With the girl that I thought I knew?
You’re battin’ your eyes
And hiding behind
A makeup mask
Watching the questions you ask
Tryin’ to make me believe that you’re someone new,
But baby I can see right through you.
