Left Singing
If I could paint you a picture,
I’d save myself a thousand words
But in the absence of a paintbrush
And with my art skills not assured
I’m singing:
We were a tapestry,
We were a masterpiece
We hung so proudly
On the walls of our lives
We were two puzzle pieces
But now our puzzle ceases
To fit together
Quite right
If I could write you a story,
I’d cast you as the valiant prince
We’d have met and fallen in love
And been together ever since
But life’s a far stretch from a story
Wishes sometimes don’t come true
And as much as we, were meant to be
Maybe it’s not me and you
We were a tapestry,
We were a masterpiece
We hung so proudly
On the walls of our lives
We were two puzzle pieces
But now our puzzle ceases
To fit together
Quite right
If I could paint you a picture,
I’d save myself a thousand words
But in the absence of a paintbrush
And with my art skills not assured
I’m left singing
