The Only Reason
Black creeping down your face
Filling all the empty space
It drips onto the red
Flowing from your hand
You look up, lock eyes with me
Screaming pain and misery
What am I supposed to do
Can’t do all you expect me to
I know I’m your anchor
But this storm is brewing fast
You’re clinging onto me
But I don’t know if I’ll last
You tell me I’m the only reason you won’t say goodbye
The only reason you back away from that knife
That’s a lot of weight for me
So much more responsibility
And with that thought I rethink my life
Opened my eyes blind
Now our fates are intertwined
This binding contract could destroy
We could burn down like Troy
For this current is sweeping
As we lie here weeping
Swirling darkness in my thoughts
Leaking into my heart
You thought I was the light
But my past is like yours
I cannot be your knight
Too weak to survive a war
You tell me I’m the only reason you won’t say goodbye
The only reason you back away from that knife
But the weight is crushing down on me
Can I handle that responsibility
And with that thought I struggle for life
So much pressure, so much pain
Sucking the life right from my veins
Pulling me under, I can’t breathe
And there’s no more fight left in me
You tell me I’m the only reason you won’t say goodbye
The only reason you back away from that knife
But that’s just too much weight for me
Can’t handle that responsibility
And with that thought I take our lives

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.<br /> By Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross
