Cigarettes MAG

January 23, 2010
By Anonymous

The cigarette burns your fingers
So you let it go, let it drop to the floor
Like you've let down everyone and everything
Else around you

You blow away the last puff of shadowy smoke
That you will ever have to face again
Yet, by throwing away this brief relief
You know you will have to face another type of darkness

These cigarettes are yours, not mine
I can't help stealing these appealing sins
You used to enjoy with me
Their smell reminds me of you

The hurt comes back fast, of course
You can always find comfort again
By lighting another sweet salvation
Yet you cannot refuse to look past the smoke forever

They tell you it will kill you
A purgatory of insanity and incomprehension
A loveless life without you

These cigarettes are yours, not mine
I can't help stealing these appealing sins
You used to enjoy with me
Their smell reminds me of you

If I quit right now, right here
Would you come back to me?
If I look past the smoke
Will you give me a second chance?
If I hold on and burn my fingers
Will you forgive my past mistakes?
If I sweep the ashes away
Will I deserve you once again?

These cigarettes are yours, not mine
I can't help stealing these appealing sins
You used to enjoy with me
Their smell reminds me of you

Too much isn't enough.

Hey! I left comments on two of your poems and I look forward to reading 'Dark Words' in the Hot Topic section! I'll try to do it soon, when I have some more time!

Smile now or smile later, but remember the pain you hide, will only grow greater.<br /> *krysten*
