Colors of the World
Why are the colors of the world
Only in black and white?
I need someone to help me see
In polka dots and stripes
I wanna see the color of the taxis
Along every city street
Oh, the bright yellow of the car
That never skips a beat
I wanna see the color of
The skin tight denim worn
By my new favorite band
And the rusty, cognac color
Of their old, beat-up van
I wanna see the glitter of the night
When I look up at the stars
Or the ruby slipper red color
Of what might be Mars
And I’d love to see
The sweetheart pink color
When you look at me
And you’d see the cranberry shimmer in my eyes
And we’d both know
The colors of the world
