starless
You’re my complacency, my decency
When I’m in and out of stagnant
You’re my broken vase with pretty flowers
Perfectly imperfect
You keep me flying on my high, high hopes
When I’m locked inside a habit
It’s too good to be true
You’re my happiness, my tenderness
When all I’ve got is sadness
If my heart is heavy, my mind opaque
Your love, it stays relentless
‘Cause I’ve known and I’ve known daydreams
I know how they come and leave
So I know that you’re real
I’m miscellaneous
Not-too-spontaneous
I wish I could let go
But you’re a hotshot, you’re everything I’m not
And I love you for it every day
I’m looking up at starless sky
Cause all of the stars I see in your eyes
You’re wonderful, and I don’t know why
Timeless love only lasts a lifetime
In an atmosphere all alone
Clearing clouds in my mind move slow
While the rain’s passing, you should know
Timeless things don’t come and go
You’re my memory in every object, every place we’d ever be
Like how we’d sneak out in broad daylight
Carve our names in the tree
Nothing besides you really mattered
Blocked out completely
But I’ve got no regrets
You’re my frozen moment, my frozen feeling
When the clocks just tick too fast
‘Cause I’d build buildings from the ceiling
If it guaranteed we’d last
Every second like a polaroid
Duplicates don’t exist
How do I know this is real?
I’m extraneous
I’m instantaneous
You like to take life slow
You’re my soft spot
My polar opposite
I love you, and you should know
I’m looking up at a starless sky
‘Cause all of the stars I see in your eyes
You’re wonderful, and I don’t know why
Timeless love only lasts a lifetime
I’ve got a heart that’s made of styrofoam
If you shape, it it flakes and then breaks apart
Should the wind come, I can know
That I’ll turn around and not see you’ve flown
When I’ve got nothing else
When the ice finally melts
I know that you’ll still be there
So even if I look up and see a starless sky
I’ll know exactly where the stars are
I’m looking up at a starless sky
‘Cause all of the stars I see in your eyes
You’re wonderful, and I don’t know why
Timeless love only lasts a lifetime

This is an indulgence of my obsession with stars. I live in a place where it's really cloudy, so for me it's a rare thing to be able to look up and just see stars. This work comes off as a passionate love song, though it's really just a celebration of natural beauty, inside and out, and how I find it in the people I love every day.
