What He Would Say

December 12, 2018

The sky turns to blue.

I'm thinking it's true.

He said that the sunrise,

brings color to life.

While sitting far away,

my mind begins to sway.

What would he say,

about the sky and the sand?

I wonder, what he would say,

about the wind and cold hands?

First he'd hold back,

then we'd laugh.

What would he say?

Snow drifting softly,

him near me politely.

This time the suns setting,

and now I'm forgetting,

what he's said before.

I imagine me a bit more...

What would he say,

about the sky and the snow?

Imagine what he would say,

the lights are lit low.

First he'd hold back,

then we would laugh.

What would he say?

Another time, another day,

we watch the stars, so far away.

The moon is kind,

what's on his mind?

Near us are mountains.

The smiles never end.

I know he would be here,

we'd simply adventure.

Formalities aside,

I know he'd take the ride.

Tell me what you would say,

about the rain and it all.

I wonder what you would say;

feel the rush of the falls.

What would he say?

The author's comments:

My good friend: I wrote this about him after a wonderful Homecoming dance. He was absolutely a gentleman and is one of the few boys that really talks, and I found that I missed him a lot while spending a vacation at Bullfrog, Lake Powell. I began to notice things he had mentioned the week previous. So this is a shoutout to all the boys who feel nervous to talk to the cute girls out there: they want to hear you. Pour out your heart to them, they are imagining conversations and cute compliments, things you notice, dancing and singing. Be yourself and share your thoughts, she wants to hear them.
