All it takes is one day
We were only together for one day
But it takes only one day to make all your problems fade away
I saw you earlier that day
But I brushed you off
And went on my way
Later in the day I was relaxing in the hot tub
Drowning my problems away
From the corner of my eye I see you staring
I turn around smiling waiting for you to say hey
Thirty minutes later I have had enough
I was ready to know you and I’ve waited long enough
I mustered up the courage and tucked my pride away
And scooted by you and said hey
Your face got red and you explained
That you wanted to say hey but your shyness got in the way
I guided him through and told him not to worry
I wasn’t going to bite him
Even though he did look yummy
And after that we were on our way
To a speedy summer romance
One that I knew would never stay
So later that day we hung out
And went on a date you could say
We laughed and played and you taught me how to wrestle
You pinned me on the floor holding my hands
And looked straight into my eyes piercing my soul
I didn’t say anything and you didn’t either
Minutes ticked by
And I felt like I was floating
Then the clock struck twelve and well the date came to an end
We exchanged our goodbyes and nice to meet yous
And without a kiss we hugged and parted ways
Later the next day you texted hey
And from then on you were the one that got away
