Ultimate Hope

There’s something about the morning
When dew glistens in the sun
Than brings comfort to the desolate soul
And whisper s “Your battle is almost done.”

And also in the blooming of the lily
So cheery, so innocent and pure
That says, “Hold on just a bit longer,
You have not much more to endure.”

‘Tis found also in a friendly embrace
Whether received from stranger or friend
That speaks of comfort and promises everything will be alright
And that you will not be alone again

This is called by the name of hope
But it is much more than a word
It empowers the weakest and most flawed
To overcome defeat assured

It’s a battle cry for the suffering
Even if found in the midst of tears
And it is remembered longer than pain
Its joy carries through the years

It brings together total strangers
It saves more lives than any man
Yet it comes from just a smile
Or the holding of another’s hand

Hope comes from only one source
He too is more than just a word
He is the Savior, the I AM, the Christ
He is the living Lord

For He is the ultimate hope
He even overcame death on a cross
To give hope to the most despairing heart
To comfort those in the most tragic loss

So when in the valley and light cannot be found
Just pray and turn to the Lord
For hope is powerful, and hope He is
Life is always worth hoping for

The author's comments:
After witnessing the concern and urgency the medical personnel possessed as they attempted to save the life of the victim of a motorcycle incident while volunteering at my local hospital, I was very touched. I was moved to write about the feeling all involved in the situation possessed. No matter how desperate a situation may seem, that experience taught me to hope, and to hope in Him who is hope.

Thank you! You're very encouraging. I know what you mean about most poetry being dark... but I can't help believe in a greater hope and light (God)... and all my writing reflects that belief. I'm really glad that this encouraged you, and also that you too, write happier things. I will be sure to check out more of your work. Thanks again... I really appreciate it!

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to dance in the rain.

i love this poem as well. You know, there are SO many writers on TI that write such dark stuff. Often times i feel kind of sad about that because I don't write dark stuff. Even if i do write something sad, then i find a way to have a lesson from it or some good ending... you know what i mean? Well, anyway, I'm glad I've found another writer who shares my style of writing (in a way). You talk about something sad but tell people to keep fighting through the hard times with hope and God by your side.... so yeah, I really liked it! `"" thumbs up!!!
