Addiction to Love
And now my heart’s a fluttering dove
I’m not addicted to drugs but to love
For your affection
Because love is perfection
All it takes is one tiny shove
One tiny shove into the abyss
One tiny smile or a hug or a kiss
I’m writing these limericks
In the hope that something clicks
But my mind’s dark as a solar eclipse.
When I talked to you on the phone
Your voice, it warmed me to the bone
And I have to confess
That I became a mess
I looked up in your eyes and they shone.
Blood on ice, hot and cold
All my life I’ve been told
That love’s delicate and soft
Wings to hold you aloft
But the clouds have lost their hold.
I plummet, I cry, I shed my tears
Looking back for those three years
I want your affection
Your love it’s perfection
But it unleashes all my fears.
