excessive greed for beauty

In my haiku, the person pick flower because that person is too greedy for its beauty but this accelerates the withering of flower. When the beauty is gone, the brief love also disappeared.
I wonder, that person can just keep the flower in the original place instead of picking it up. So is this love? Being possessive seems to be an embodiment of love. But is it too selfish? Not taking into account the feelings of the other, but only consider one's own impulse. Is this love?
Just my own personal thought... I always feel that love with the consideration of others can move me more.
