The Voyage
Water slaps the sides
Sick, nausea rolls over me
Boat rocks with the waves
Voyage
Loud sirens ring out
I emerge from the cabin
Wind whips through my hair
Voyage
Clouds blanket the sun
Eerie darkness masks the blue
Sky opens, rain pours
Voyage
The storm has arrived.
Thunder rumbles, lightning cracks
Crew runs above deck
Voyage
Unprepared and scared
Boat spins, tips once; twice, I scream
The sea engulfs me
Capsized
Trapped in vicious waves
“Help,” I try to scream once more
Water fills my lungs
