Times of Day - Four Haikus

Times of the Day
Dawn
First peek of the sun,
sweet clear dew and gold light fleets,
gently wakes me up.
Afternoon
Honey colored light,
generously floods the earth,
melting all worries.
Dusk
Sun’s off duty,
leaving his last tenderness,
lights the city up.
Night
The world falls asleep,
only stars are whispering,
about human dreams.

Alina is a 13 year old bilingual writer and artist from Shanghai, China. After learning that haiku poems were traditionally about the four seasons, she decided to both honor that tradition and put a modern spin on it by writing four haikus to celebrate four times of day. In her free time, Alina likes making modern art from traditional Chinese styles - like watercolor and papercutting - and hanging out with her friends.
