Human
some days, when my bones ache
from weariness and the
responsibilities of life,
i forget that
i am only made of
muscle and joints,
sinews and ligaments,
and that somewhere, buried
underneath the complications of anatomy,
i am quite simple.
and fragile.
i have a heart,
a brain,
and a network of veins.
although my skull is strong,
it is still vulnerable to concussions.
in the end, my senses wear down
due to the tolls of life.
and as the years go by, i loose
not only others but
also bits and pieces of
myself.
yet despite the forces,
i am strong.
my body breathes in
life, and today,
i will live.
and so
i do.
