I am a Fireball
White Winter nights, calm flames fill the furnace.
Heat flies out and fills the bone cold room.
Cozy the night becomes, cuddling and adoring
the individual flakes as they fall from the sky.
Quiet and tranquil, I can almost hear each individual
as they make contact with the frigid earth.
I wake up the next morning to a warm summer day.
Sun radiates heat on to my pale skin and heats up my body.
Friends slowly pile into my house, to celebrate the day.
A ball of fire explodes in the backyard and we all gather around.
Roasting marshmallows and making smores around the ambitious bonfire.
As night approaches we decide to move inside.
A new flame appears and it sits on my kitchen counter, inside a spongy treat. It is small and quiet like the furnace, but meaningful and loud like the bonfire.
These candles are for me, and it means I turn 18 today.
