Where I'm From
Happiness, sadness, laughing, and yelling.
That’s what emotions are like where I’m from.
It’s not always one way or another though.
It can be calm and serene too.
Everything can change in a snap,
And sometimes it stays the same for days.
There’s a lot of in between, but no matter how powerful or hurtful things get,
You have to remember that everyone and everything has a breaking point.
I’m talking about my parents’, brother’s, friends’, and my emotions.
Where I’m from, emotions can change everything.
Emotions change the way you act towards specific people or everyone.
They can damage your perspective of reality and people.
Where I’m from, in small-town Iowa, your actions mean everything.
There’s always someone watching.
That can be a good or a bad thing depending on how you chose to act.
For me, I feel that sometimes I have to put others before myself and think about the personal consequences later.
Where I’m from, that’s how it should be.
