The teacher taking me to the sick bay won’t catch a stomach virus from me.
For the sickness I feel is something you can’t see.
Bathroom breaks and cancelled plans just to feel free.
It’s this exhausting plague that’s terrorising me.
My throat closing in and my uneasy feet,
My trembling hands and my heart’s too quick beat,
Sweaty palms in bathroom stalls to check if it’s still real,
I’m drowning in worry and too sick for a meal,
Sometimes anything is too much to feel,
And sometimes the world can be too big to deal.
But a hug and a chat and a cup of tea,
And soon I’ll be back to being me.
