Life behind glass— 
We were blindsided in the moment,
wings flapping freely in the open
as we flew like the wind.

Life behind glass—
At the beginning of the end,
the net trapped my wings
and ceased my movement.

Life behind glass—
My eyes no longer saw,
my family no longer with me and
the smell of burning fuel filled me.

Life behind glass—
I saw light once again,
streaming from
fluorescent flickers filling my prison.

Life behind glass—
A box is now my home,
what point is there in living
in this artificial habitat?

Life behind glass—
My wings fall limp,
as I crash, thinking
thank God I am freed.
