Water Under A Bridge
Walking in the woods I see her,
A lady of purity and poise.
I hear her giggles through the trees,
Resting under a tall fir.
She dances under the canopy.
Her skin glistening like opal;
Her flowing hair white as snow.
She lays in regal majesty.
Frolicking down the hillsides,
bouncing to and fro.
Rolling down the mountain,
Down and down and down she rides.
Dancing over the rocks.
Bounding between stones.
Breathing life into all she touches,
She flits through the forest like a fox.
She is strong and excitable in energy.
Wary be the fool in her way.
Prone to outbursts of exuberance,
And periods of stagnant lethargy.
Many a man dream of taming her,
Many a man has tried.
Some alliances work better than others.
Some have disaster occur.
Our journey ends at the town gate,
Iron bars separating us at last.
But I don’t fret or sadden or hate,
For she is simply water under a bridge.
