We except the love we think we deserve

Little girl, so pure and clean,
isn’t really what she seems
Scars line her arms so very close
leaving a feeling of morose
That smile that she wears so white and wide
it’s just her only way to hide
All she does is cry at night
wishing someone would hold her tight
Mom and Dad don’t seem to see
what their girl has come to be
A child oh-so depressed
just wanting to be like the rest
Thoughts of death float through her mind
“but it’s selfish!” she must remind
So she sits there everyday
Wanting to just run away
Skin so raw it hurts to touch
but it’s a feeling she loves very much
She waits patiently for the day
when her pain will go away
Whether it’s death or something more
She isn’t very sure
But the little girl doesn’t care
because either way it would be fair
So look deeper when you see
that little girl, so pure and clean
For she is not what she seems
