The at-bat
Stepping up to the plate
Swing and a miss, strike 1
Man on 2nd, wishing to drive in the run
I take a big swing hoping that it doesn’t seal my fate
That guy on second needs to reach the plate
If he does, we celebrate
But, if he doesn’t you’ll be heading out the gate
Losing the game would not be fun
But if I get a hit, I drive in the winning run
Swing and miss strike 2, I was too late
I’m sweating in the hot sun
Wanting to impress everyone
Feeling like I need to meditate
The pitcher is the best in the state
Will this be a story to tell my future grandson?
Homerun
Game won
