saying yes
everything happens for a reason.
i did not think of being here.
i heard a different ocean in my heart
and had visions of mexican weekends.
letters came back and i could go if i wanted to
but i dreamed in a garnet sweatshirt
and drove five hundred miles south.
two months in and i had met you once, before.
saw you twice more,
once when you were lost,
once when i was lost.
we recognized each other and thought about it
over the live music
and through the fog machine.
we decided upon each other by ourselves.
we decided yes.
enclosed with each other in the slim library row,
methodically moving our fingers on each other's collarbones,
eating pancakes with each other late at night,
we keep on deciding yes upon each other by ourselves.
you're leaving soon. you deserve to go. you need to go. go, please.
everything happens for a reason.
i'm going to miss you like hell.
