School
I don’t think people notice
How certain things affect kids
School is one of those things
“Take classes in what interests you”
“But not that”
“Wear what you want to express yourself”
“But not that”
“Listen to music that makes you happy”
“But not that”
There are so many things
I would like to say
To those who made this broken system
I am not defined by a letter
Or a size
Or a time
I am not defined by my classes
Or my test scores
Or my detentions
I am defined
By who I am
And what I love
And slowly
As the years so by
“Intelligent”
And
“School”
Are neither or those things
But then again
It’s the students that are flawed
Not the system
Right?
