Poppy
A fluffy cloud of White fur
tickles my nose every morning,
I wake to find a petite pup
Still sleeping beside me from the night before.
She takes up almost an entire queen sized bed
Though she is smaller than a pillow.
Every morning, her smile screams with excitement
When I fill her food bowl,
she is like a child on christmas.
As she tackles her food dish
I start the coffee pot,
Hearing it brew is music to my ears.
The bitter smell of coffee fills the house
Creating a serene sanctuary.
Every morning, I see Poppy growl,
Protecting the house from squirrels.
Her footsteps creeping,
lurking,
sneaking
towards the door,
As if she was playing prey and predator
Everymorning
Out of the corner of my eye,
My dearest poppy stares,
wiggling her tail,
Knowing I will be leaving soon.
I hold her close,
just before I go
Because every morning,
My petite pups fluffy fur tickles my nose,
And I wouldn't want it any other way
