Freedom's Waltz
The spirit of the song catches at my feet and hands
Spinning me and sending me a-pattering
Across the dark wooden floorboards
That tap out my counter-melody
1,2,3,1,2,3 I go
The doors and windows disappear
1,2,3,1,2,3
I race and bound and blunder and LEAP
Through the doorframe
And fall
1,2,3,1,2,3
I will land in grassy fields that sway like the sea
And flow with the wind
Catching rain puddles in my eyes
And chasing the horizon until it catches me in eternity
But never shall I look back up at the cage of clouds
That I left behind
I will be a runaway with dewdrop wings
And mothwing flutters for a heart
And I will follow this song into wildflower forests
Finding notes under mossy logs
And in between the cracks of my wrinkled soil
I will kiss the sun and taste life
Like candy on my tongue
And never shall I return to my grey purgatory
For now I dance to a different tune
1,2,3,1,2,3 I go
Further into the grasp of the wild
