I thought you
were blue
like the salty ocean waves;
I thought you
were green
like the soft summer grass after rain;
I thought you
were yellow
like the arms of sunshine reaching through clouds;
I thought you
were true.
But you
were blue
like the fire at the base of a flame;
But you
were green
like the emerald that lures a damned ship to sea;
But you
were yellow
like the fever that left my dry;
But you
were you.
