picnic
the sun kissed her skin
as he had imagined kissing her,
making her smile and warming her hair.
as he spread the blanket,
he wondered if she'd really wanted to come,
or if her sympathy was controlling her.
he sat down next to her and opened the basket,
and her lips fell open at the view
while he enjoyed her instead.
with her windblown hair and her sundress,
he'd never felt luckier
to be with the girl that made that makeshift picnic
feel gourmet.
