It Pours
Standing in the rain
Her thought process a guillotine
The wind a condemning whisper in her ear
All she knows
Is the perpetual fall of heavy tears
Pounding her head like a gavel
And sentencing her to death
With every shaky breath
That she tortures from her body
She exhales the warmth of her life
And inhales reality like a grey smoke
Blackening her lungs
And matching her eyes to the sky
All she feels
Is the numbness in her legs
That locks her in place
With chains of panic
Chasing her heart inside her
Until its fleeing footsteps shake her
She screams a scream
That deafens her mind
And shatters the windows of her soul
But she can never run away
And it will never end
No one can hear her
She might as well be dead
When it rains
