Sleep Tight
Can’t even see,
An inch in front of me.
Tick Tick goes the clock.
Pitter, Patter
Clicking of a lock.
Can’t even see,
An inch in front of me.
Sink onto the sheets,
Grasp, Gasp
Rhythm of two heartbeats.
Can’t even see,
An inch in front of me.
Tingling down the spine,
Grumble, Mumble
A laugh I’m sure wasn’t mine.
Can’t even see,
An inch in front of me.
A presence somewhere nearby,
Drip, Drop
No I will not cry.
Can’t even see,
An inch in front of me.
A shadow so potent,
Shink, Shank
My body held in cement.
Can’t even see,
An inch in front of me.
The sharpening of a knife,
Tip, Tap
The ending of a life.
Can’t even see,
An inch in front of me.
A painful fire,
Fizzle, Sizzle
A dreaded desire.
Can’t even see,
An inch in front of me.
A cold relief,
Whisper, Whimper
The rest based on your belief.

This poem is based off of a dream that I had few years ago. I don't usually remember my dreams, but for some reason this one stuck with me.
