Only you and I can help the sun rise each morning. If we don't, it may drench itself out in sorrow - Joan Baez

Tell me, my elder, how

do I simply weather the thunder in this life?

Having lived many lives you would know

If I might, please let me hold the rails on the

top of the bus, so I can have something to cling

I won't be a bother to you who's inside

May I go along for the ride?

Drop me off somewhere dry, where I can think

about what my future will be

The author's comments:

The younger person is confused about what to do with their life. They practically beg the elder, to allow them just to hold on to the rails on the top of the bus through the storms, so they can figure out a future so uncertain.
