Daddy
Some girls get their hearts
broken by their daddies,
long before boys
ever have the chance to.
I was one of those girls
whose daddy was never really there.
My daddy never had
the chance to break
my heart,
because before he got the chance,
He turned it to stone.
Ever since then,
life has thrown it’s worst at me,
but my heart of stone
has taken the blows
Leaving little more
than a small crack.
Until tonight,
When the one
who filled the role
of being my father
took my heart
And shattered it
On the cold frozen ground.
He left when I needed him most;
betraying my trust in him.
Maybe I was wrong to give him
the title of Honorary Father,
But what’s done is done,
And my heart is gone.
