Street Light
The street light shines during dusk
Shines when the rain is falling
Darkening the town
The street light shines during dusk
Holding the little child's hand as they walk home
Shines light onto the girl on the curb
Calling for a cab
It shines light onto the homeless man
Who uses this light to create his art
Without this light,
The entire city would be lost
The street light shines during dusk
But in the deep hours of night
It begins to flicker
Light slowly fading out like a train coming to a stop
But during these dark hours
Every one of the town is tucked away
No one around to assist
The street light shines so bright during dusk
But in the hours of unfathomable darkness
Is when the streetlight needs
Someone to shine on them
