Do you know me?

Do you know who I am?

I am the darkness in your sleep

I am the light on your land.

How am I, you ask?

How can I help you?

I only bring in truth

and cause fights, too.

Why am I here?

Why did you bring me in?

You wanted me yourself.

You wanted me to sin.

Where did I go when you

needed me the most?

I went somewhere else

just like the holy ghost.

I am sinful

and I am greed.

I am helpful sometimes

when you need me.

I am gossip

I am lies

I am hope

I am demise.

Do you need my help?

The theme of this poem is somewhat unclear. Based on the tile, I believe it is about gossip and the havoc it can wreak, but the phrase "I am hope" (line 23) does not seem to fit. What hope does gossip offer? And in the first stanza, how is the speaker (gossip?) both darkness and light? These things are not clear. My favorite part is stanza 4, which compares gossip to the Holy Ghost, both of them not being on your side when you need them. I also like the last line, which illustrates how most people can fall prey to gossip. Overall I would recommended completely changing lines 3 and 4 to something that fits better with the theme, and replacing the line "I am hope" with a word that matches with the negative words used in that stanza. Thank you for the opportunity to review your work. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about my feedback.
