Astronauts MAG
In the cold, sucking vacuum of space
I see a familiar face
I hear a ringing in my ears
As my face wells woefully with tears
A bloated body floating in the dark
Reminds me of the journey on which I will embark
A broken helmet shows her demise
A stray meteorite that flew by in surprise
Her deep blue eyes no longer radiated life
And give me a deep feeling of internal strife
The blood froze and frothed on her mouth
Telling me that my life is destined to go south
With the death of my wife in the unforgiving
void of space
I have lost the only thing in my life I ever
cared to embrace.
Continuing on this endless journey
I find myself wondering if I’m even worthy
With a life unlived and forever gone
I float disparagingly, without hope of a rising dawn.
