Smile
They said, “You don’t have a reason to be sad”
Turn that frown upside down
You have family, friends, things
My head understood, my heart didn’t
It continued on its lonely path
They couldn’t understand
That sometimes we choose loneliness
And sometimes loneliness chooses us
That not all pain can be explained
And yet I stretched my chapped lips
And pretended to smile
