What Do We Achieve
How many people must we kill
to turn people against others
to call it a three-letter word,
calm the veteran's shudder.
How many people must we kill
who are fighting for their cause?
Apparently, a lot, from what I have heard,
the killers say, “It was against the laws."
How many people must we kill
to say "yo-ho, we won!"
but yet in reality, when given thought
many lives are done.
How many people must we kill
who are fleeing their home in terror,
their unheard voices, slowly sinking,
banished to the world of never.
I don't ask much of you, the individual,
except to think a little more,
about how many people must we kill.
What do we achieve in war?
