A package of sliced deli ham

A package of sliced deli ham
on the top shelf of our refrigerator,
against the light,
casts a
sickly
sterile
pink
glow that drips
down the rest of the scene.
I think of heat lamps,
bloodstains,
tiny pink piglets
who will only touch their mother
through iron bars.
Should I close the fridge door?
