lightbulb in a dirty school hallway
I am a lightbulb
trapped
in a small box of bars
They say
it's to protect me from being
s h a t t e r e d
But from this dimly lit
school hallway
I can never see
the stars.
Maybe I want to be shattered
To burn with hope and with rage
But I'm still stuck here
like a bird in a cage.
Maybe
I'm tired of being safe
Maybe
I want to scream my story.
But I
am silence-
someone nobody will ever learn about
And all
anyone wants
is to use my light-
They won't notice me
until
I burn out.

Possibly talking about how in schools so many people are ignored and invisible and mental illness and bullying go unnoticed until a few days of pretending to be sorry when someone kills themself.
