Sometimes
Sometimes
When your heart breaks, it isn't loud
It isn't you collapsing to the floor, weeping and crying out.
Sometimes, it's as silent
As dry eyes, blank face, and calm voice
Saying "Okay. Cool." and "No, there's nothing you can do for me."
When your best friend
Whom you thought loved you, and whom you thought you loved
Brings up the prettier, happier girl
Who always makes you feel like you're not good enough
And says "I'm asking her out on Friday."
Sometimes
When your world is shattered
It's as quiet and still
As one last hug
And an empty "okay."
