NOT a Love Poem
This is a poem for you
But NOT a love poem
Love poems are cheesy and cliché
And my love for you
Is NOT cheesy and cliché,
It's so much more.
You deserve much more than a poem
filled with things you already know I'll say,
Like how your eyes are the most brilliant shade of green
Or that your blond hair shines like gold in the sun
You already know
I think you're the most amazing person in the world
And that my love for you is ineffable.
Remeber this is NOT a love poem
This is NOT a poem about your breath taking kisses
That always leave me wanting more
Or the way your smile just makes me melt
In the way describled in cliché teenage love stories.
This is a poem about so much more than that.
This is a poem about how when you call me beautiful
I don't doubt it,
Or that I've never felt as amazing
As when I'm laying in your arms
This is a poem about the love I feel for you
NOT a love poem
That hides within the clichés.
This will never be a poem about
How your laugh is contagies in the best possible way,
Or how I'll never get tired of hearing your voice at 1 am
as we talk about sweet nothings.
This is a love poem
With so much more.
