Exposed
Once, a peach:
The precious picture of perfection,
Taunting my taste buds,
Beckoning my bite.
An act of impulse,
Selfishness,
Temptation,
Leaves the delicacy
Once craved by all,
Desired by none.
Large chunks missing,
Holes gaping,
Offering an exclusive look
Into the dark center.
The black pit,
Perfectly bordered
By the seeping crimson
Within the flesh of the fruit.
I feel as though I have uncovered a secret.
The peach’s darkest inner thoughts,
Which have cultivated its very being
In a matter of months,
Now exposed.
