An Invitation
If it rains,
I will be glad.
The sky will darken,
And the wind will howl,
And I will run wild.
If it rains,
I will be free.
And I will see you
In the cold haze
And our eyes will meet.
If it rains,
And I hope for our sake that it does,
Agree to meet me out there-
In the place spring meets summer,
And we will run together.
If it rains,
We will be dancing
On sloshy rain puddles.
I will have a daffodil in my hair
And the clouds will roll on.
When it has rained,
You will kiss me goodbye,
And the sky will have lightened,
And we will walk away and
Into the dawn.
