The Fray
Once more into the fray,
give it your all,
give it your best.
Shot down,
wounded beings of the past stand before you.
Yet you forge on.
Broken, shattered,
you walk to the enemy and spit in its face.
Testing the limits of your torment again.
Red hot agony rips through your heart.
Feelings dull,
mind unable to focus.
But there is light,
deep in the back of your existence.
Hope,
It’s what brings you off your knees,
And sends you back to find the never ending battle.

I wrote this piece a long time ago when I was in English class reading an original poem called Flander's Fields by John McCrae. In that moment of time I was in a rut, and suddenly inspired by the piece. How you interpret it is up to you.
