She was a little girl on a raft called Life

She sailed on an ocean called the World

Whenever the waves got rough,
The girl just sat and curled

She was a little girl lost in her dreams
Dreams of a flying boat
And when the waves got rough,
Into the sky it would float

She was a little girl lost in her dreams,

Dreams of a big boat

She dreamed of halls decked with gold

And fairy dust to keep the boat afloat

The little girl had grown into youth

Her raft had become bigger

Those dreams came less and less

And she dreamed them with less vigor

In the water, the World had shown her things

College, boys, and school

She would sometimes think of her dreams

And thought those were thoughts of a fool

She was a youth losing her dreams,
She was now looking for some land

She now thought of the waves that surrounded her

Help she would demand

The youth had become a woman

She had no dreams at all -

All she did was worry,

Worried that her boat might fall

The little girl is now a woman

Her raft is now a boat

But all she did was worry

About keeping the boat afloat

She was once a little girl lost in her dreams

She was a once a youth losing her dreams

She is now a woman, who had lost her dreams

She would be gone, along with her dreams

And her child would find those dreams again
