Abundance then Anguish
“Twinkle, twinkle little star,”
the mother sings to the little boy
hoping that he drifts away
peacefully, without a worry
He hears the soft,
gentle voice that
warms his ears and
fills him with comfort
soon the comfort is gone—
her hair begins to slowly fall out
the soft, gentle voice is no longer
singing a sweet little song
that sooths his ears—
her thin, frail hands grasp him once more
Now he is the one worrying
whether he would be able to
hear her singing this
sweet song once more
with her eyes shut
and soon her heart
dead
