The Perfect Her
-Her-
Smiles bright and eyes shining
showing her pearly whites
Her freckle covered face showing happiness
She’s popular and has the ‘perfect’ boyfriend and family
At least that’s what everyone thinks
Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors
The marks she leaves on her thighs at night
Her ‘perfect’ boyfriend isn’t there for her
He’s told her to not talk to him if she’s depressed
He doesn’t want to deal with her anxiety
He doesn’t want all of her ‘problems’
Her dad yells about her flaws
Her brother doesn’t respect her body
Her bright smiles mask the pain she’s feeling inside
The type of pain that pain killers can’t fix
Her eyes are only shining from unshed tears
Her freckled cheeks stained from the few that escaped
Her mind wanting it all to end
She wants to leave the world and end it right now
If it weren’t for the two people who need her she’d leave
All she wants is their happiness
So she puts on her fake smile
She wipes the tears from her eyes
Washes away the tears stains
Faces her father’s words
Her brother’s disrespect
Her unloving boyfriend
And lives, just to see the smiles on their faces
