I’ve been at war
But I’ve never been a soldier
I’ve got battle scars
Some are  physical and some aren't

I have nightmares
But not from  unspeakable events
I have many enemies
Too many to count

In my war I’m out numbered
One against the world.
No battle plan
I am at a loss

Should I hold up the white flag
Wave it in the air and give in to the fatigue and pain
What are my options?
Who will care?

But my biggest enemy has thick hair
When I move she moves
When I look into the mirror
I have to face her
I can’t avoid my reflection

I say out loud
You're beautiful
She says “Whatever that looks like.”
You're smart
She responds “Sure if you say so.”
You’re powerful
(You’re powerful)
You are powerful
(You are powerful)

Powerful adjective having great power, authority, or influence; mighty
Please I've got as much power as a baby
Authority yeah right I can't even tell myself what to do

My life is like a war
The longest war in history
Too tired to trudge on
Giving up to life is an option at this point

No my reflection won’t win
No I refuse
I'm not going out like this
I have to believe myself
I have to blossom in to my true self
I’ve got to  become stronger

I am powerful
So now I'll pick myself back up
I’ll clean myself off
I can  win this war
With the most powerful kind of defeat
My attitude

You see me now
I can see myself and she’s on a tight leash
I turn my back and the pain will go away
But I keep some pain
Because pain can never fully dissipate
In order to push on I need the key
The key is forgiveness

I’ve gotten this far in this war
But I still have to fight the little battles
If I can base up and strike back
If I can keep my stance and pin my opponents
If I can keep my eye on the ball and knock it out of the park
If I can keep on smiling
Then I can keep moving on
Fighting through this war
Becoming victorious

I will fight
Because I’m powerful
